How do I determine the size of the player?

Have the player stand and face you with their left arm out parallel to the ground and their palm facing the ceiling. Place the measuring stick next to their neck and see how many inches it is to the palm of their hand (see picture).

If they Measure between        Then they need violin size:
14″ – 15 1/4″                              1/16
15 1/4″ – 16 3/4″                         1/10
16 3/4″ – 18 1/2″                         1/8
18 1/2″ – 20 1/2″                 1/4
20 1/2″ – 22 1/4″             1/2
22 1/4″ – 23 3/4″                 3/4
23 3/4″ +                                       4/4

It is always best to have the student fitted by holding a physical instrument in their hands. You may come into the store or ask your orchestra teacher for advice on sizing.
